MS500 Wood Floor Adhesive from New Era is a high strength, single-part silane polymer adhesive.

The advantages of Ms500 are that it can be used for bonding most types of wood flooring - including wood blocks, engineered, laminated & solid wood plank flooring and the New Era

Range of Acoustic Underlays.

MS500 is also compatible with underfloor heating systems. It cannot be used over bitumen based subfloors.

This adhesive is compatible over most substrates including sand and cement screeds, concrete, Anhydrite (Calcium Sulphate) screeds, stone and timber.

Open time: approximately 20 minutes

Preparation: All phases of installation should comply with BS 8201, the wood manufacturers
instructions and/or other local installations standards and codes of practice.

SUBFLOOR

• Ensure the subfloor is flat, clean, sound, dry and free from contaminants that may hinder adhesion, this includes, paint, varnish, polish, old adhesive residues and plaster spots.
• Subfloor must be tested for moisture to meet BS 8201
• Existing wooden subfloors must have an intact base DPM.
• Ensure the timber is acclimatised in accordance to the manufacturer’s instructions in the environment in which it is to be laid.
• Always allow an expansion gap against all fixed objects to allow for natural movement of the wood when bonded.
• Fully compatible with New Era Acoustic underlay systems, please refer to separate Technical Data Sheet.
• Mechanically remove all surface treatments on concrete bases. Lightly abrade Calcium Sulphate substrates to remove any surface laitance.
• Repair any deep indentations in the subfloor with a compatible smoothing compound or repair mortar.
• Not recommended for use over existing floor coverings.

PRIMING

• Ensure the surface is swept and vacuumed thoroughly before application of a suitable primer.
• Prime porous substrates with a universal primer and allow to dry.
• Ensure substrate is suitable for the adhesive before application. Contact our Technical Team for more details

APPLICATION

• Climate conditions of work site should be minimum of 15oC air temperature and maximum 70% RH. If necessary, the adhesive must be brought up to correct temperature before application.
• Choose a suitable notch trowel size (i.e B11) for the subfloor and wood flooring to ensure a minimum of 80% contact between the adhesive and the underside of the flooring. Subfloor should meet British Standard tolerances.
• A deeper notched trowel may be required depending on the subfloor and for larger solid boards etc. This will adversely affect the coverage rate of the adhesive. Spread the adhesive in a sweeping motion and place the wood into the adhesive while it is still wet.
• The bonded wood will be suitable to take foot traffic 6-8 hours after application. It should be left 48 hours before sanding or finishing takes place.
